Valleywise Health receives top marks for hospital safety

Medical Center has earned an 鈥淎鈥 Hospital Safety Grade from , highlighting its commitment to providing high-quality, safe patient care.

鈥淭his is the first time Valleywise Health has received an 鈥楢鈥 grade in the Leapfrog rankings, and I am extremely proud of every member of our care team for this achievement,鈥 Valleywise President and CEO Steve Purves said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 extremely gratifying to see their hard work and laser focus on quality and safety recognized with an 鈥楢鈥 rating by Leapfrog.鈥

Leapfrog, an independent national nonprofit watchdog organization, evaluates general hospitals nationwide and assigns grades ranging from A through F based on more than 30 performance measures, including errors, accidents, injuries, infections, and the systems hospitals implement to prevent them.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital rating system dedicated exclusively to preventable medical errors, infections, and injuries, which claim the lives of more than 500 patients daily in the United States. This peer-reviewed program is fully transparent, free to the public, and updated biannually in the fall and spring.
